Whale watching in the Breede River region
At Mudlark guests will have the chance to see a wide variety of Whales. The annual migration of Southern Right Whales makes its way along the coast between June and November. The Garden Route hosts a variety of Whales consisting of 37 species. The Southern Right Whales usually come to calve in San Sebastian Bay, which makes the bay quite a hotspot.
The region has many Whale watching vantage points. Whether you watch from the beach, a boat out in the ocean or one of the cliffs along Infanta village where the Whales tend to come very close. In 2003 alone 80 Whales and 51 new calves were spotted over the last 3 seasons. The most Southern Right Whales were seen in the bay. Dolphins can also be seen in the early morning on their way, hunting food.

Did you know?
|
Because Whales are streamlined to swim in water, they do not have external organs. This makes it impossible to tell the sex of a Whale when watching them on the sea surface.
