Whale watching in South Africa at Hermanus

From May to December the Southern Right Whale (Eubalaena Australis) migrates to the waters of Walker Bay. The Southern Right Whale predominates and can be identified by its characteristic blow; which is 2 V shaped streams of heated water vapour about 5 metres long. There are other species of Whale and Dolphin which visit South Africa. The Whales come to the Garden Route to mate, calve and nurse.

Dyer Island Cruise is a unique Whale watching experience. Guests can also participate in boat trips to get closer to the whales. Other sea life to be seen include the African Penguin, Cape Fur Seal, Great White Shark and various sea birds. Shark cage diving is a very exciting activity and can be safely conducted by various companies. Sea kayaking is another way to spot Whales and Seals out in the Ocean.
